Wapan - "Early Morning"

Have you ever woke up in the morning, and seen the beautiful sky filled with beautiful colours, with the full moon still visible? That's what this logo represents.

Nohkompan (My late grandmother) was a seamstress and loved to bead. Before she left to the spirit world, she gifted me all her beading crafts, moose hide and applique patches. I was honoured.

When she passed, I had the time to look through these items and was amazed by her floral designs, and how she so perfectly matched the colours together. Not knowing what to do with them, I got the vision to make this logo.

The moon represents the day she was born.

The florals were recreated from the unfinished mocassin tops that she gifted me.

Wapan means "Early Morning"

The day we laid my grandmother to rest, the sunset was filled with all these beautiful bright colours. I felt a warmth in my heart, knowing her spirit will always live on, as she filled my family with so much love and nurture.

Let us all remember our grandmothers, as we wear this shirt with pride and love in our hearts.

This logo is a dedication to her memory.
